Probably just a bug. I've done some intensive testing in the Minecraft labs and discovered the following. If you have a spider, creeper, zombie or skeleton on your screen in anything other than Peaceful Mode obviously and, while those creatures are on your screen you save and exit, and if you then reload the game in Peaceful Mode, those MOBs will not be there when you load up the game. I think this makes sense to everyone. HOWEVER, if you have a slime on your screen in anything other than Peaceful Mode and, while the slime is on your screen, you save and exit, and if you then reload the game in Peaceful Mode, the slime and any other slimes that had spawned near you before you saved will still be there.
Interesting, eh? Also, upon further testing, I have determine that, despite it now being Peaceful Mode, the slime can hurt and potentially kill you, but you do have the advantage in Peaceful Mode of moving away from the slime for a few seconds and gain some automated healing. It may be because the only slime that can hurt you is the largest one.
The others are probably still consider passive which then allows them to be there. The largest one being there is probably a bug. And yet that doesn't seem to happen. In my tests, the size of the slime has no discernable impact on its ability to survive when the game is reloaded in Peaceful Mode. Rotten flesh also has a 1. However, like for bones, a fishing rod requires string, which is rather expensive when on Peaceful difficulty.
However, most of the places where you can find rotten flesh, you can find string as well. With these mobs unable to spawn, spider eyes are rather difficult to obtain. The only place they can be found is in the chests of desert temples. However, spider eyes are practically useless on Peaceful difficulty, because they can only be used to be eaten or as a potion ingredient, both of which are impossible in Peaceful.
Wet sponges can be obtained as a drop from elder guardians on Easy, Normal, or Hard, or in the sponge room s in ocean monuments in all difficulties, including Peaceful.
Although wet sponges are technically not renewable, the primary use of sponges is to soak of water , and when they are broken, the water is still drained. Because of this and the fact that wet sponges can be placed in the nether or cooked in a furnace to become a dry sponge all over again, sponges, despite them not being renewable, can be used an infinite number of times.
Ocean monuments are rather difficult to find, but they are easier than some other structures, like woodland mansions. There are two methods of finding ocean monuments. The cheaper but more time-consuming way is to keep looking around deep ocean biome variants, until you find one.
The more expensive but less time-consuming way is to acquire an ocean explorer map from a cartographer villager , and use that to locate an ocean monument. However, in addition to having to gather enough materials to trade with a cartographer villager to get the explorer map, you will have to trade all the villager's other trade options, before the ocean explorer map trade will unlock. In addition, fishing can even give you an enchanted bow, or another fishing rod. Sugar can be obtained either by crafting with sugar cane , by killing witches , or crafting with honey bottle. Although the second option is not available on Peaceful difficulty, the first and third are. Simply put 1 sugar cane in the crafting area in your inventory or on a crafting table, and you will get 1 sugar. Put 1 honey bottle in a crafting table, in order to receive 3 sugar and an empty glass bottle.
These materials, sadly, can only be obtained as hostile monster drops. However, sometimes some of their crafting recipes may be able to be obtained by other means. Blaze rods can only be obtained by killing blazes , which is impossible on Peaceful difficulty.
Unfortunately, blaze rods are essential to going to the End , because there is only a 1 in a trillion chance that an end portal will generate with all eyes of ender in it, and eyes of ender require blaze powder. However, brewing stands , which usually need a blaze rod to craft, can be found in igloo basements and village temples, but no potions can be brewed because they require blaze powder as fuel.
Even though the player may not be able to go to the End on Peaceful difficulty, there are plenty of other things available to do in the Minecraft world. This is one side of an igloo basement. The brewing stand can be seen in plain view. A brewing stand is the only item crafted with blaze rods that can be achieved by other means than crafting. Ghast tears , which drop from ghasts , are used to make potions of Regeneration and end crystals.
