To do so would have meant that I would get to bed somewhere around midnight or so even if I started when I got home. Besides, all of it was already covered in class and I "got it". Never studied for tests either, because if I hadn't "gotten it" by then it was unlikely that any last minute study would do anything.

My prime argument against homework is that it was a significant part of the final grade for each class. Not doing homework usually meant that your grade was at least a full point or more lower than it actually should be. Final grades should be based on "final tests" alone.

To do otherwise is to ignore the "final" part of the word. Homework should be an option for those students who want more practice than they had time for in class, and not graded. I did the math, and I am good at math, it took me 3 hours to complete. There has to be a better way. I feel the biggest problem with our education system, grade school to high school to college is that it has become a business and the focus is on profit not the process of learning.

So you think I am just a crazed parent. No I am a former college professor in physical education. Big hole in our existence is that we are forcing our kids to learn on their butts!
