Please note that a couple of search engines are still showing very! The room photos seem from 20 years ago. If in doubt, please refer to the photos here in this article all photos were taken in February or on the hotel website.
The buffets are straight-forward and with the kind of quality I expect from a resort in the medium to upper price level. There are many delicious options to choose from, including Dominican and international specialties.
Remarkable buffet items were an Asian food station incl. Both buffet restaurants of Riu Palace Punta Cana had outdoor seating areas to enjoy the tropical breeze. What I loved most about the lunch buffet was the immediate beachfront location. Just head to the restaurant of your choice and get a table. During our vacation at Riu Palace Punta Cana, we visited three of those five restaurants, with Yokahama being our favorite one.
The sushi was top-notch and certainly way above the typical resort sushi, the main dishes were nothing short of either. While the Tapas-style concept of the Spanish restaurant was interesting and manifold as well, its presentation has some room for improvements as most of the Tapas were just served buffet-style.
When talking about food and drinks, the bars are still missing in this Riu Palace Punta Cana review. While this sounds not much, those 4 bars are absolutely sufficient as they are well-stocked and strategically located, so you never have to walk more than 2 minutes to a bar. The quality of the drinks is good, without setting new standards in the Punta Cana all-inclusive industry. They have fresh Mojitos, a couple of prepared cocktail mixes, a wide range of long drinks and a decent selection of international brands, such as Martini, Campari, Johnnie Walker, Canadian Club, Beefeater Gin and Tia Maria.
When having a drink and enjoying some good entertainment is one of your premises, Riu Palace Punta Cana is a very recommendable option for you. Not only that you get your drinks served right on your table, but you can also take advantage of some decent night shows.
While I am usually not too impressed with the typical hotel shows because I am simply not interested , surprisingly enough I got fascinated by the shows from Riu Palace Punta Cana. Probably this is due to the unique layout of the resort. As everything is so close together, you literally stumble upon an empty table at the main entertainment plaza when leaving the restaurant for dinner. If you decide to dine outdoor at La Isabela restaurant, you can even watch the show and eat at the same time.
Further night entertainment options include the sports bar with pool, the Riu Casino and disco both closed right now due to the travel restriction of Covid and some live music throughout the evening. Pool games, dance lessons, beach entertainment, sports competition and much more all took place while we were there. There was always something going on at Riu Palace Punta Cana. The vibe easily can be described as active and social, without having a too crazy party atmosphere, always keeping in mind the quality approach of Riu Palace Punta Cana.
If you are looking for even more entertainment, you should head over to Riu Bambu free access from Riu Palace Punta Cana , which usually is even more lively. On the other side, please keep in mind that during the ongoing pandemic Covid in Punta Cana , party activities with close social interaction are still very limited. Once everything is back to normal again, there will be more entertainment and it is likely that the big Riu party area in the center of the Riu complex opens again with its regular themed parties.
For sports lovers, there is a range of activities to choose from, among them, tennis, darts, beach volleyball, beach soccer, a gym, non-motorized water sports and 1 introductory dive lesson in the pool. It is just around 4 years old and therefore one of the newer waterparks in Punta Cana and among all the all-inclusive resorts. The water park at Riu Resort Punta Cana is located in the center of the entire complex so that it is easily reachable from all the different hotels.
Rooms were fully renovated in the spring of and have a fresh feel, with wood-like floors, white walls, and beige throw pillows and bed runners. Big sliding glass doors open to balconies furnished with at least a couple of chairs, and many offer pool, garden, and side sea views. This Riu Palace Punta Cana is set along a beautiful white-sand beach with calm, warm water, minimal seaweed, and dozens of loungers placed in the sun or under palm trees. It can get crowded in the peak season. Non-motorized water sports are available free of charge on-site, and there are kiosks run by a third party offering additional options for a fee. The massive aquatic playground has built-in sunbeds, several hot tubs, and a swim-up bar, along with three big pools and a kiddy splash area.
Young guests also get access to Splash Water World, which is located within the Riu complex and offers a number of water features and six waterslides. Although there is no full spa on-site, guests over 18 get access to Renova Spa, a pleasant wellness center located at the neighboring Hotel Riu Palace Bavaro. Golfers can find a number of courses in the area, including the hole Punta Blanca Golf Club, for which guests get discounted rates. The Hotel Riu Palace Punta Cana is a hour all-inclusive resort, which means all food and drinks are available free of charge, including buffet and a la carte meals, snacks, sweets, hot and cold drinks, and cocktails. Unlimited beverages include local and imported brands. The only drinks not included are those served in the nightclub. The spread is good, and themed nights add variety.
Breakfasts include egg and pancake stations, sparkling wine, and fresh fruit. Additionally, the hotel offers six a la carte options, including Mexican, Japanese, Spanish, Italian, fusion, and a steakhouse.
The Spanish and Italian restaurants offer buffet starters and a la carte entrees and desserts. Guests also get access to a number of restaurants at other properties on the Riu complex.
Colonial, classic and massive were my first impressions. The pool was huge too, and so was the fountain, the garden, and basically everything you looked at.
What I really liked was the fact that the Riu Palace Punta Cana has several restaurants where you can have an authentic gastronomical experience. American buffets, an Italian restaurant, a Steakhouse and even a Japanese with great sushi! This is the smallest of the Riu resorts in Punta Cana. With its art deco style and cozy feeling, this is the best Riu hotel if you like a somewhat smaller resort and want to avoid the masses at the Riu Palace Punta Cana.
This is definitely the best Riu Resort for families travelling with kids. There are five swimming pools and two kids swimming pools to relax in.
Additionally, the 5 bars at the Hotel Riu Palace Punta Cana have all types of beverages, snacks and appetizers available any time of the day. Entertainment at t Hotel Riu Palace Punta Cana is guaranteed thanks to the daytime and night-time activities program which our entertainment team has prepared for the enjoyment of all of our guests. Adults will be pleasantly surprised with the best shows and live music and children will have fun participating in the activities program just for them. If you want to relax on your vacation, you can visit the Renova Spa at the Hotel Riu Palace Bavaro, located just a few yards away where you can take advantage of the best treatments that will leave you feeling as good as new.
The Hotel Riu Palace Punta Cana has more than rooms in which you can enjoy the best amenities, such as satellite TV, a safe, a coffee maker, a minibar with a drink dispenser, a sofa and balcony or terrace, among many others.
