You have a ticket to the front of the line. With FastPass, you get to stand in the shorter, quicker line rather than the longer, slower one. On rides with FastPass, Disney divides the standard line into two parts. The regular line is for people without a FastPass. The people who have them get to the front of the line exponentially faster. A purpose of the FastPass system is to encourage guests to use it as much as possible. Thanks to the FastPass, you can visit other parts of the park at the same time.
Meanwhile, you can be anywhere else in the park. The genius of FastPass is that it allows you to stand in two Disney different lines simultaneously.
The FastPass system doubles your park productivity! Once you have a FastPass, the system does all of the work for you. The downside for Disney is that you are in two places at once. Park officials counteract this by adding more attractions. This strategy cleverly counterbalances your efficiency. Disney would have twice as many potential riders if FastPasses were active. When you stay at an official Disney resort, you may book FastPass reservations 60 days in advance. Otherwise, you may book 30 days prior to your visit.
Obviously, staying onsite is a huge benefit for this reason. Disney only has a limited number of this FastPasses that they may offer each day due to the maximum throughput factor we just discussed.
If you are staying a t a Disney-owned resort you can make ALL of your Fastpasses for your trip on that first day your window opens. This is a huge perk! That means logging on at 7 am each day. You can only make FastPass reservations at one park per day.
This is true even if you have a Park Hopper ticket that allows you to visit more than one park per day. When you select a FastPass time for an attraction, your time is actually the start of a one-hour window during which you can use your FastPass. You can not have a FastPass for another attraction that overlaps that window at all, so that makes planning a little tricky. To use a Fast Pass, just go to the attraction during the hour window and find the FastPass entrance. While there are no tiers for FastPass at Magic Kingdom, it requires a special strategy since there are so many choices. Some attractions are very popular and it can be particularly hard to get Fast Passes for these attractions. These are currently the hardest to get FastPasses:. The Rider Switch program allows multiple adults to experience an attraction while one adult waits with a child, then "switch" to enable the other adult to enjoy the attraction.
