The top one is TM33 Reflect and the right one is another Voltorb. Reflect doubles the user's Defense but fails if the user already has Reflect applied. Exit back out of this room to the split mentioned before and start heading east. You'll pass a Voltorb shortly followed by another Voltorb , and come to another split where you should enter the southern room.
This room has another two item balls: a TM25 Thunder on the left and another Voltorb on the right. Thunder is a high-power, low-accuracy Electric-type move, packing a whopping power but only It also has a Leave this room and go east at the split this time. The path will take you north and then curve around to the west; when it does, you'll see an opening to a room to the north.
Head inside for two items, neither of which are Voltorb. Back on the main path, follow it west and you'll soon come to another split. Magnemite Zapdos. Voltorb Zapdos. Head back through Cerulean City to Route 9. Go to the edge of the river in the northeast corner and use Surf to dive into the water. You don't have to beat the Power Plant to win the game, but the single level 50 Zapdos at the end is incentive enough to make this short dungeon a must-visit before you challenge the Elite Four and Red players won't want to miss their exclusive Electabuzz.
Another good reason is TM 25 which contains Electric's power technique, Thunder. Use Surf, and you'll find the plant with little trouble. Beat him to earn There's only one floor, but the enemies can be tiring. You will face a single trainer when you get out of the water you can also ignore him :. The Power Plant is really straightforward, but watch out for fake item balls. Only five of the item balls in this stage actually contain items, the others are actually camouflaged Voltorbs.
Don't worry too much about them, though. Plus, the item rewards are pretty sweet:. There is only one single Zapdos in the game and you better make sure that you catch it for your collection. Supersonic is as accurate as Sing. Hell, put them both together if you don't have any TMs left. Each to his own, I guess. Equal highest Attack out of the Electric types.
Horrible Defense, almost as bad as Dugtrio 10 points off, to be exact. HP's not too hot either. Swift is somewhat of a threat against Raichu, DT offers no protection and Raichu hasn't got the Defense to last a slugging match. Raichu is best used as the all-rounder in a lineup, as his offensive stats are quite well balanced. You begin to appreciate Yellow Raichu when the TMs are all used up.
Suffers from having a relatively good Attack but needing TMs to take advantage of it, the only decent Physical attack being Swift. Not quite as fast as the majority of Electric types, though still speedy. Part-Flying completely negates its weakness to Ground, but adds Ice and Rock to the list.
Doesn't really matter, as Zapdos is tank enough to take the hits. Grass types are normally a viable solution to Electric types, but Zapdos' Drill Peck sorts that out. Not as weak to Rock as the other two Birds.
